A gurukul is a type of school in India, residential in nature, with shishyas (students) living in proximity to the guru (Teacher). In a gurukul, shishyas reside together as equals, irrespective of their social standing, learn from the guru and help the guru in his day-to-day life, including the carrying out of mundane chores such as washing clothes, cooking, etc.
Education
AKOHAM aims at providing free education to the children in the nearby village and other poor families. The focus will be to provide basic education and vocational training for the kids with provision of Mid Day Meals. The school further aims at conducting environmental projects in villages, working at local health clinics and assisting at major healthcare projects.
